Commercial vehicles financier Shriram Transport Finance Company soared 4.99% to Rs 769.20. The stock topped the gainers in the BSE's 'A' group.
Private air carrier Jet Airways spurted 4.53% to Rs 814.70 on reports the company has sought the Reserve Bank of India's approval to raise foreign currency loans to repay expensive rupee loans taken from local banks. The scrip was the second biggest gainer in 'A' group.
Power generation and mining company KSK Energy Ventures climbed 4.20% to Rs 167.60. It was the third biggest gainer in 'A' group.
Software developer and operator of various exchanges -- Financial Technologies (India) flared up 3.90% to Rs 1407.20 on positive sentiments after billionaire investor George Soros reportedly bought close to 4% equity stake in the Bombay Stock Exchange from Dubai Financial. It was the fourth biggest gainer in 'A' group.
Drug maker Ranbaxy Laboratories rose 3.59% to Rs 492.60. It was the fifth biggest gainer in 'A' group.
